Support

Orbit helps you remember and tend the people you talk to on Substack. Here’s how it works and how to fix the common snags.

Getting started

  1. Install the Orbit extension and make sure you’re logged in at substack.com.
  2. Click the Orbit ✦ icon in your toolbar, then Connect to Orbit and sign in.
  3. Your recent people load in first; older history fills in quietly in the background.

Common questions

It says “your Substack session expired.”

Open substack.com and log in again, then click Sync now in the extension.

When does it sync?

After you’ve been on Substack, a couple of times a day, and whenever you click Sync now. It only runs on your computer while Chrome is open, so nothing happens when your computer is off.

Does it read my DMs?

No, not unless you turn on “Include direct messages” in the extension. It’s off by default.

Where does my data go? Is it private?

Your Substack login never leaves your device. We only receive your conversations and the people in them. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

Send us a note below and we’ll remove your account and data.
